AI Reading for Tuesday October 7

what, me anxious?

Or the Apple, controlling hardware, software, app store, services. But Apple didn’t spend $1T to do it. And it might be more like Facebook’s failed platform for social apps.

Overall I feel like OpenAI is trying to be all things to all people but they might be screwing the pooch with enterprise customers. Claude is better for coding, and #1 across all categories in LMarena. Google and LangChain have deeper, more integrated ecosystems for agents. But if your data is in Microsoft the interoperability might be a showstopper.

Presumably, Microsoft will integrate AgentKit into Azure, but if they focus on their own products, then the rift with OpenAI is very bad for both parties. Microsoft has Copilot Studio and now the Agent Framework, but neither is as broad as Google and Langchain/LangGraph. And OpenAI MCP support is catastrophically bad. I’m not sure I want to write enterprise apps to OpenAI’s API and publish in their cloud, feels very proprietary for something that shouldn’t need lock-in. I just want to write an MCP server and easily connect it to ChatGPT Enterprise goddammit.
