Integrated supply chains means you get poor fast in a big war.

Today's news roundup brought to you by DeepSeek.

When GPT-4.1 came out with the mini models and JSON structured output, it was a huge win for agents, could fire off a lot of requests, get good, fast, cheap, reliable output.

With 5.5 they are ~4x-ing prices, making DeepSeek etc. attractive at the low end. I’m don’t think the 5.5-mini and -nano models are competitively priced.

if you've got the chips and power, like possibly Google, Grok, while OpenAI and Anthropic are scrambling for revenue and compute-constrained, you can buy market share.

3-2-1 rule: 3 copies of everything, 2 media, 1 offsite. I’m not sure if a vibe-coder failed to appreciate this or Railway led people to believe their backups were safer and couldn’t be deleted by a rogue call without so much as an “Are you sure?”
